In short
- The website sets no cookies and has no analytics, no ads and no embedded third-party services. Fonts and images are served from our own host.
- The app stores your notebook on your device and, if you choose, in your own iCloud Drive. We have no access to it.
- We only receive data from you when you write to us.
Hosting with Cloudflare
The website is delivered via Cloudflare Pages, a service of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you open a page, Cloudflare processes technically necessary data: IP address, time, requested address, amount of data transferred, browser and operating system, and the referring page. This serves secure and fast delivery and protection against attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. We have a data processing agreement with Cloudflare including standard contractual clauses. Cloudflare deletes server logs according to its own retention periods, usually after a few days.
The demo on this page
The notebook demo runs entirely in your browser. Whatever you check off, type or change there is not sent to us and not stored; reloading the page resets everything.
The beta card
When you stamp the beta card at the bottom of the page, a counter on our Cloudflare host goes up by one and your card gets the next number. We store only that number – no IP address, no identifier, no cookie. Your browser remembers your card number in its local storage so the card keeps it on your next visit; it does not leave your device (§ 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG).
The Rurie app
Rurie stores your to-dos, notes and ideas locally on your Mac. If you use sync, the app keeps this data in your own iCloud Drive so it stays the same on your devices. Transfer and storage are handled by Apple (Apple Distribution International Ltd., Hollyhill Industrial Estate, Hollyhill, Cork, Ireland) under the terms of your Apple Account. We run no server of our own for this and cannot see your content.
The app has no account, no ads and no usage analytics. During the beta we distribute the app through Apple's TestFlight; if you allow it in TestFlight, Apple may share crash reports and device information with us. See Apple's privacy policy for details.
Contact by email
When you write to us, for example to get a beta invite, we process your email address and message to answer your request and send you the invite (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We delete this data once it is no longer needed for that purpose and no retention obligation applies. There is no newsletter.
Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability (Art. 15 to 20 GDPR). You can withdraw any consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR).
Right to object: where we process data on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), you may object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR). An informal email is enough.
You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.
